dream job?

last week i received a rather interesting email in my in-box.  i read it, and then marked as new so i could keep for a while, just for fun.

it was from a company that i had signed up with a few years back who sends group fitness instructors to various resorts in the carribean, etc. to teach a class or two a day and in return, the instructor gets to enjoy the usually all inclusive resort and have a vacation for a lot less money-wise than if you paid for it outright.  i've known several people who have done this, more than once, and loved it, and i thought maybe one day i'd book a trip too.  so back to the email......

this particular email was different in that they were passing along information from a resort who was looking for someone fulltime.  this resort was in need of a fitness/wellness coordinator.  someone who could teach yoga/pilates classes (i can do that) and coordinate their wellness program (have experience with that).  really?! how cool would that be?!

a couple days went by and in passing i mentioned this opportunity to my oldest son who urged me strongly to apply.  so, i did it.  i replied to the email and attached a copy of my resume.  shockingly, within 30 minutes of sending the email, i received a response and before you know it, i'm on a phone interview!

no need to get too excited.  oh i was in the running for a second interview.  he said there were over 60 applicants and i was in the top 10, and then he asked if i could start in september.....september!  of this year!  well sorry to say, i don't have a passport and even though i could certainly get one, it would take a while.  he said he'd talk it over with the owner of the resort and then get back to me, but i'm sure that took me out of the running.

it was fun to dream.  fun to imagine living and working on a beautiful carribean island, practicing yoga by the sea, and living the island life.  perhaps i will start working on getting that passport!

p.s.  check out the resort website and dream a little bit, http://www.rosaliebay.com.
